Dropbox announced that they will be giving away 500MB free space every time you upload 500MB images or videos to your dropbox account. You can get up to 5GB of free storage by uploading 500MB images/videos again and again (until you get 5GB). Actually this is announced officially for their andriod users however here is a trick. You only need a flash drive and Windows 7 to get up to 5GB of free storage.
You need a removable media storage device which has capacity of at least 5GB of storage, latest version of Dropbox and Windows 7. If you satisfy all of these points then move forward. Here is how you can get 5GB free dropbox space for life.
Steps to Get 5GB free Space on Dropbox
- Download and install Dropbox 1.3.13 (Beta)
- Create a folder called DCIM and place 5GB or greater amount of photos.
- Transfer DCIM to a removable media such as a microSD card, external HDD or a USB flash drive.
- Eject the removable media. Insert it back again.
- Dropbox will automatically start importing pictures from your removable media and images will be uploaded to your dropbox account.
Once you have uploaded 5GB of images / videos to your account. You will be awarded 5GB of free space. This is actually a loophole and Dropbox might notice this anytime but so far its working 100%.
